677 – Swimming Accessories
Dec29
Hey Readers,
Looks like Jim is still trying to figure it all out. Pretty sure Fred is too. Best left for more level heads. Doesn’t look like Jim is gonna get outta tasting his namesake cup cake. 😛
In place of an additional Ask the Cast this week is our annual Your Character Here XXXMas Picture – Tiki Paradise, thanks for everyone who participated and make it super special this year, Super thanks as always to NB for allowing me to continue to have Billie Jo be part of it all!
Till next week,
~Cheetah out
Yeah, a derp moment. Now stop avoiding trying out that lovely lady’s new cupcake. She DID name it in YOUR honor.
Omm nomm nomm
So what webcomic are NP and Billi Jo part of?
Well , Technically CnC hehe, but They weren’t part of another comic, NB is Billie’s creator, but he also has his Character Nanten, who’s also appeared in the comic , he’s the Canine who finds Jim and Billie RASTLIN in the mud pit and asks if everything is okay. He’s also Felicity’s creator. He’s very graciously allowed me to use his characters, and also to help develop a lot of Billie’s story 🙂
I’m gonna say this without too much personal bias: I side with Fred.
I’ve read the comic from the beginning when Jo comes home and all that. I don’t recall there being any scenes or montages of Jim young, interacting with Jo’s parents. I know there are some moments with Jo’s brothers but the only one fully recall is when Jim jumps Sari’s dad. The first time I was aware of Fred showing up in the comic was when Jim and Jo visited him and her mother in the present and there was that whole joke about Fred’s name which was apparently not a new joke given how unamused the doctor was. So I can’t really look at this from the perspective of “he knows Jim since he was young and knows what a great guy he is” especially when, reading from Page 1, Jim flirts, teases, and sleeps with damn near any woman who shows up in the comic whether they’ve graduated high school or not, teases his lover’s father who isn’t amused, and yet wants to be monogamous with her…no wonder he said no. All this talk about how they go back a ways is shilled by other characters in contrast to what we the audience sees that Fred isn’t direct witness to. I’m waiting for the moment when Jim has HIS self reflection and not Fred fixing himself. And at this point, some flashback would seem like a retcon so it’d probably be best for Jim to stand there with Fred and just address his faults, make it clear how much Jo, more than anyone, means something to him, and let Fred see the “true Jim” and not the cad he presents himself as “charmingly”. I’ll even take Lana showing up all menacingly only to have a mature talk with the doctor about the candid/true side of Jim while everyone waits outside.
So that’s my two cents.
