I have an editorial cartoon that I think sums it up perfectly- in a mall with a wall sized poster advertising lingerie featuring a woman with a dazzling smile and a tremendously generous chest which is barely contained by her minimum material bikini, a member of the thought police chastises a mother for breast-feeding her baby. 😳🤯🤦 The hypocrisy of the white Anglo-Saxon Protestant phallocentric right wing conservatives is breathtaking. “You can’t make me wear a mask! You can’t make me get a vaccination! It doesn’t matter in the least whether or not it’s to protect the innocent, helpless and defenseless by pass this fatal disease along to. You’re infringing on my FREEDUMB!” And then they turn around and with a straight face tell people what they may and may not do, but even that is cosmically hypocritical since their hand wringing, breast beating, tooth gnashing concern over a fetus evaporates the instant it is born and transforms into a human being whose mother needs public assistance to support the child. Always a pleasure to be accosted by Henry holier than thou and Bertha better than you of the church of our Lady of perpetual suffering, people who are nearly always firmly of the “do as I say, not as I do“ persuasion. 😶🫥

If you haven’t read it check out Spending the Day At the Lottery Fair by Frederick Pohl I believe it is, written more than a few decades ago it perfectly depicts the hypocrisy of the anti-abortion evangelical ‘Christians’ we see today.

Thanks for the recommendation, I look forward to reading it. I do enjoy interesting new perspectives and trivia and minutia that tend to get glossed over or ignored in favor of a polished narrative and description.
It’s definitely an interesting perspective especially with recent events with the Supreme Court. If you’ve watched Sliders the story might remind you somewhat of the episode where they slid to a world where they had ‘free money’ dispensing machines but you were actually playing a death lottery which was how they kept the population down rather than simply allowing abortions. Let me know what you think of it if you can.
