Heh heh. I know just how Manilla feels. I also wasn’t able to attend my prom, so when my daughter had hers, we went a little overboard to make it special for her. Though I also wonder if Manilla is hoping a certain young man might dare to ask *her* to the prom, too!
Hmm. He might; but, would Manila go with him? After all, despite the prevalence of “cougars” these days, Manila impresses me as being a bit worried about what others would think of her relationship.
I also didn’t get to attend my prom, though I’m sure I wouldn’t go into “pageant mom” mode like Mani seems like she’s steering into… or maybe she’s steering into a semi. XD
Given their age difference, I’m not certain that either Anthony or Manilla would be comfortable going to the prom together. I imagine Manilla prefers to keep her relationship with Anthony somewhat private.
I love how Manilla’s intensity is beginning to frighten Sarina a bit in the last panel. I didn’t imagine that ANYONE could frighten Sarina when I started reading the strip.
Well, Anthony would probably be happy to show off his older woman. Manila, on the other hand, might be a bit concerned about possible ramifications if their relationship was to be discovered, or uncovered. LOL.
Beware when a mother goes into intensive mode. It can become extremely stressful!

I’d think step 2 would be up to Darren and step 4 and step 3 should be swapped. (Of course, I’m older and a bit old-fashioned. LOL.)
Sarina is way past the talk. Reference the chapter when Jims mom passes. She’s safe with Darren anyway. He can’t get her pregnant.
I must have missed this somewhere. Why can’t Darren get Sarina pregnant? Is he sterile or is it because he’s a rabbit and she’s half-cheetah/half-serval?
Darn it Cheetah! You’ve just made me curious about how procreation works in this universe. I assume that there is no limitations on the ability of any of the peoples of this strip (humans and various anthros) of engaging in sexual intercourse, and we know that two different types of Felines are able to have children (even though cheetahs and servals are not only different species but are from different genuses in real life). It is also implied that Jim could impregnate Jo if they didn’t take precautions. Is the ability to sire children limited by the family the species is in? Both of Sarina’s parents (along with Jim and Josiphine) belong to the family Felinae (feline). Would members of Canadae (foxes, wolves and dogs) be able to have children? Just being hopelessly curious and trying to get a handle on things.
That’s what I like about my universe. The anthros in my universe are, literally, half-human. Because of this, all humanimals can interbreed with each other AND humans. That’s why my Amanda is a red fox with tiger ancestry and she carries the proof of both ancestries.
I was just joking. I mean considering Manila has used her daughter’s sex toys when her own “gentleman caller” comes around. And why can’t he? Is this one of those furry worlds where inter species relations cannot produce offspring? To that I say BALDERDASH! If Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Bajorans, and humans can all interbreed then why can’t humanoids with animal traits?
Yes this is a world where inter-species of large separation will have a near impossibility of impregnating their partner. Sari’s father and Manila are somewhat close even though there are fairly far appart in the feline world. Jim and Josie will have a MUCH harder time conceiving a child but it’s not impossible. Just harder.. I doubt Jim will mind trying.. But this also play a VERY large part in upcoming storylines and relationships.. So stay tuned.

Whoa! After looking at the strip again, I just noticed that Sarina is blushing when she gets into the car. Sarina? Blush? My mind can’t comprehend such a thought. LOL.
I’m not sure if Sarina is developing as a person or if we’re just seeing sides of her that we hadn’t seen earlier on in the strip. Either way, the part of her that we readers see is becoming more rounded than it was in the beginning. I know what you mean about Sarina blushing, given all the things she’s done since Jim’s Mother’s death, I have trouble imagining anything having the power to make Sarina blush. That’s why I was surprised when Manilla’s intensity was beginning to scare Sarina. The younger Doyle doesn’t seem like the kind of person who gets scared all that easily.
