292 Let me be here for you
Hey Readers,
I’ve been asked so many times when the physical relationship between Sarina and Jim was started, and I put off answering it as I have had this chapter written for nearly 3 years. After having spoken with Josie what amounts to a week or two ago in the story line she’s taken it upon herself to initiate something a bit more than what they’ve been in the many many years they’ve been friend. We’re still working on the whole Patreon thing. Debating what to offer you guys, like the full rez comic files, bonus sexy sketches, maybe even some WAY OUT OF CHARACTER fantasy stuff you all keep asking for. As well as a cameo level or two. Suggestions below would be greatly appreciated.
Till next time,
~Cheetah out
This is such a cute scene though. Love how it’s blocked out as well. Well done, well done indeed!
Also, “kitty cat,” hehehe…
Wow this a cute and lovey scene.
Sometimes not showing can be very sexy. Though it would be very sad if only Patrons get to see the sexy strips of the story when many are barely floating above water in debt and are struggling to pay bill.
no no.. I mean full rez like bigger than 800 pixels the comic is posted at, I wouldn’t censor content.
Aw. Okay, but like this chapter so far. While Jim is hurting, sad, and a little lost. Sarina is willing to bar her soul to him and to show him that he is not alone and unloved. ;3
That is just wonderful so far. I especially like it that Sarina cleared the idea with Jo well before she acted on this impulse. Both girls are right. Jim needs some tangible anchor right now, and Jo isn’t able to drop everything and be there for him like this. But Sarina can, and both ladies clearly care deeply for Jim, though I think in somewhat different ways. He needs a life-affirming event to help him past this tragedy, and intimacy with someone you truly care about is one such event.
A cameo would be great, but it would be neat to have say have your character drawn next to one of the girls or Jim for a price? maybe even get the girl or Jim to pose nude beside them?
It’d be very hard for him to turn her away now, and he’s probably feeling a little lonely in a sense too.
Sari’s breasts seem to be a little smaller in this strip than in most of the rest of them. I like them like that, though.
well this is a year prior
Yeah, I was going to mention that; but I didn’t know how to do it without sounding snarky. I guess some women’s breasts grow pretty fast during this time of their life. Of course, as I said, I like ’em smaller. But, I like Sari anyway. She cute.
Wow… never knew her backside was so cute!
OK, I’ve seen enough. I’ve held back most of what I think since Jim’s passing, but as difficult as this has been for all of us, I think it’s time we face a few essential truths.
Sex as the basis for a story line is a *BAD* Idea.
Sex and sensuality with Character and emotion (Love) in it is a good idea.
I can appreciate the fact that you’re on the edge of a razor.
But I would be less than honest if I didn’t say that this has the sense of desperation about it that is like the television trope about getting a popular character pregnant, or marrying one off to start a spin off sitcom. Be very careful about which dramatic djinns you let out of which bottles, because magic is hard to put back in a bottle, as is lightning.
As a basic premise, I see nothing “wrong” with Jim and Sari loving each other, and being with each other. This is a different world than our own, with a different set of mores That having been said, I think this is wrong for one very basic story-based reason.
This smacks of pity sex, as it comes out of the blue, without having the foundations required for it to be an ultimate moment of sharing and joy that sexuality can be between characters who have shared adversity, joy, sorrow, and in short life itself. These two do have a past, and a life together, but most of those emotional underpinnings are missing from this moment, because while the “fanbase” knows them inside and out, a casual onlooker does not.
The audience has to want to see Jim and Sari together, both as a function of their own satisfaction, and out of the knowledge that at long last, the two of them are emotionally prepared to share something higher.
As they say, getting there is half the fun. In a landscape of OSS (Obligatory sex scenes) this moment ought to be culmination of something wonderful between two lovers. Like frosting a cake that the audience has seen in the making since it was water, eggs and flour. Any experienced baker will also tell you never to frost a warm cake, because of what happens to the frosting.
I question all of this on that basis.
This event also takes a certain tension away from the story line and sub-plots. Once lost, it cannot be restored. Jim is a low ebb, and vulnerable. He is not clear enough of mind or heart to make the emotional judgements this moment requires. Sari is worried for Jim, so her judgement isn’t the greatest either. Reminds me of “Romeo and Juliet” (and we all know how that wound up, Right?)rather than “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
I’m not telling you to stop. It’s your story. But in closing, I will borrow words from Davy Crockett: “Be always sure you are right, then go ahead.”
Very well thought out and very good points made. How ever as you’ll learn next week , I have no plan what so ever to show a sex scene.. This is a vehicle for their physical relationship starting, it’s also a vehicle to bring another fact that will be made clear in the next few weeks about Jim’s relationship with Manila. This is not NOT NOOOT an Obligatory Sex Scene, hence even avoiding visible bits.. I realize where you’re coming from, but it’s a necessary vehicle to move some past some story that’s been canon since the beginning, this ENTIRE story-line was MEANT to be in Chapter 10, and I had that initial artist have creative differences about it.. So I’ve had to do my best to work it into this story-line with out shooting far off course.
You raise a lot of food for thought on this. I wanted to offer up a couple of things too…
As far as I understand, Cats n Cameras begins sorta “in media res” where all the characters already know each other. Second, I think a lot of this was hinted at in the past. Essentially, this particular chapter is a flashback to hint to things that were already implied.
But you know, I wanted to just bring this particular thing up, as your post inspired it when you mentioned ‘pity sex.’ It is known that it is often considered not-optimal for things. But we do know from real life that people have turned non-optimal connections into something that lasts a long while. Even I’ve done that sort of thing. So my point is that even if this were to be interpreted as ‘pity sex’ it actually would make their relationship that much more impressive, that they took a non-optimal beginning and made it committment.
What happened to the bunny boy?
This is a flashback story, Darren is still very much around, Basically the first time Jim and Sari were ever physical.
