Hey Readers,
Sorry for the ups and down of the last week. Join me in welcoming back Shockley as a part of the CnC Crew. Speaking of downs, I think Bella might not be normally programmed to look that far down after the door bell rings huh? I’d like to introduce our mystery bear. The man of the hour, the person some claimed didn’t exist, or was dead (lol) . Grigori , Lana’s wonderful husband, and local butcher. Still putting together the Patreon, I’ll keep you all informed.

Amber Shockley , She Does Afterhours you can see it in out links section. She was also the Colorist and Shader and did a lot of strips when Mackey was doing the comic. She is his wifey 🙂

Funny, I always thought when we’d meet Grigori in the comic Jim would be told he was coming in first and would have a similar vision of how he first saw Lana in his head (but BIGGER and with sharp-shiny butcher tools), and then when he meets him he’d be dumbfounded. … Well, maybe that would still work somewhere. >3 Mwa ha ha ha ha
Oh Jim hasn’t met him yet.. Jim’s not even there. I’m sure Bella and some of her pent up “Whip Cream Frustration” may have her elaborate on Mr. Grigori’s demeanor
I want you to know, it ain’t easy translating Russian into English without a Cyrillic keyboard.
LOL.
Google translate has the option for an on-screen keyboard, it’s what I use when I need to translate something using non-western characters.
Google Translate app will also do it if you aim your phone at the screen 😛
Do you think that will work with my clam shell phone? (Or is it a flip phone? I can’t remember what they’re called.)
What I did was I Googled the Russian alphabet and wrote down the pronunciations of the different Cyrillic letters, typed the pronunciation into the translate block and then looked at the options below the box to find the one that looked closest to what was written in the panel. It took a while, but I got it translated. (I knew I should have been a Russian linguist when I was in the USAF.)
I’ve gotta know…what is he saying? I’ve tried translating it but I just can’t get it.

Actually, it translates to “Wife forgot food.”

I did not know that, no. You’d think as many times as I’ve used Google translate to come up with words and names for my writing, I’d have seen that before. Oh, well. Maybe I ain’t as observant as I thought I was.

Planning on Keeping Shockley, as she’s worked on the comic before for a long time.. It’s mostly getting it supported that’ll be the hard part.. But we’l get the Patreon up here shortly.
I don’t know what the rate options will be, James, but, I’ll do my best to support this great comic. I’m kind of limited in funds plus I’m supporting two others but I’m always willing to assist where I can.
Wow loved that Amber is going to take over the comic and Can’t see what when Jim meets Lana hubby Grigori. I also can’t wait to see how Bella might mess with Jim about what her husband look like then as well.

Like the name for him too, Grigori. That’s actually one of my favorite Russian names.
Of course, you realize that just having what he says in Russian…I now feel the need to figure out ow to translate it.

True. But, it kind of caught me off guard after getting used to seeing it in color for so long. However, I do know that doing comics in color is time consuming.
Welcome back Amber! I was waiting for a comment about Bella knowing a little Russian.
Well, there’s the Little Russian in question… 😉 @NeksusCat when you translate it over from english to russian, some errors creep in. Sometimes annoying, sometimes amusing.
There is a little translation mistake. When you write “забыли” like that, it sounds like there is a lot of people, who forgot about something. In this situation right way to write is to replace “и” with “а”.
P.S. My english is a bit crappy, i know that.

Well, previous artist was nice and did good pages, but no offence to him\her, I like this one better, even if it’d be colorless. ^^
Also, it alway seemed so odd to me, why would Russian people talk with such odd accent when they speak their own language? I understand them talking with accent when they speak English, but why it keeps when they speak Russian, as well, as they’re spelling things wrong. I understand, it’s sort of a cliche, but it’s odd.. ^^;
Spelling things wrong? He’s just speaking simply to try and convey to Bella.. which I don’t think is helping 😛

I’m russian and he basically said that “wife “many people” forgot food”. That’s what makes me cring at this page.
When people often mix their native language with other language they’re speaking right now, because they don’t know the proper word – it’s okay. But when they speak solely their natural language and spell it wrong – that’s not normal.
I hope you get what I mean.
I’m not trying to be rude, Grigori isn’t spelling anything.. Russian is NOT my native language.. I Put it through 4 different translation tools to make sure it was 3 simple words. I ran it form English to Russian and back to English again. I DO NOT have a native Russian speaker to spell check or assist me with script writing. So MY errors are not on purpose. And I tried my damnedest to make sure it was correct. I had one person offer to help me some time back ,but she disappeared and stopped logging onto Skype. None of this is done to make the character look as if he’s speaking improperly.

If that’d help, the correct phrase for Grigori here is: “Жена забыла еду.”
Actually, you did almost purrfect, just one little typo that changed the phase wrong.
I do appologise if I did sound mean to you.
Believe me I need all the help I can get when. It comes to the proper Russian Vocabulary and translation.

To be entirely honest, I feel like this art and shading style works much much better in B&W. The previous color strips felt a little… Off. It’s the only way I could put it. Maybe I just wasn’t used to the more cartoon shading in the newer colored in strips?
At any rate, WB Shockley!! CnC feels whole again!
